1. About the Artwork
What does Keepsake Comics Studio create?
We create custom commissioned comic-cover artwork that celebrates real people and meaningful stories. Each piece is designed using the photographs, memories, interests, accomplishments, and creative details provided for that particular customer.
Is every cover custom-made?
Yes. Your cover is created specifically for your order. It is not an automated filter or a template that simply places someone’s face into a premade image.
Are the examples on your website available for purchase?
No. The examples on our website were created around particular people and stories. They demonstrate the kind of artwork we create, but your cover will be designed specifically for you or your gift recipient.
Will my artwork look exactly like the examples?
Your artwork will use the same personalized, story-driven approach shown in our portfolio, but every composition is different. The colors, scenes, lettering, characters, background, and level of detail will depend on your photographs and requested concept.
Do you only create traditional superheroes?
No. A person does not need a cape, costume, or superpower to be portrayed as a hero. We celebrate parents, grandparents, teachers, caregivers, veterans, coaches, volunteers, business owners, friends, survivors, mentors, and other everyday difference makers.
2. Sizes, Printing, and Framing
What sizes are available?
We currently offer two finished sizes:
8.5" × 11" Keepsake Size
A personal, versatile size that works well in smaller wall spaces.
13" × 19" Premium Comic-Cover Format
A larger statement piece with proportions closer to a modern comic-book cover and more room for visual storytelling.
Both sizes are professionally printed and delivered framed.
Which size should I choose?
Choose the 8.5" × 11" Keepsake Size for a more compact, personal display. Choose the 13" × 19" Premium Comic-Cover Format when you want greater visual impact and more room for scenes, characters, and story details. If you are unsure, we recommend the 13" × 19" Premium Comic-Cover Format for the fullest comic-cover presentation.
Is the 13 × 19 version simply an enlarged copy of the 8.5 × 11 version?
No. The two sizes have different proportions, also called aspect ratios. The artwork must be composed differently for each size.
The main story and important elements will remain consistent, but the placement, spacing, background, and surrounding scenes may vary. When both sizes are ordered, they will be closely related versions rather than exact scaled copies.
Do you sell unframed prints or digital downloads?
No. Keepsake Comics Studio currently sells finished framed artwork only. We do not sell unframed prints or digital-download-only products.
Why do you sell framed artwork only?
We want the finished piece to arrive protected, properly presented, and ready to display.
A separately purchased frame may cover important parts of full-bleed artwork or may not fit the composition correctly. Providing the frame allows us to prepare the artwork for its final display size and removes an additional step for the customer or gift recipient.
What type of frame is included?
Each piece is presented in a clean black frame selected specifically for the corresponding artwork size. The finished artwork arrives framed and ready for portrait wall display.
3. Photos, People, and Pets
What photographs should I provide?
Start with a few clear, well-lit photographs of your hero. Whenever possible, provide a clear view of the face from more than one angle and avoid heavily filtered images. If you want the included pet or meaningful object featured, provide clear reference photos of those as well. Additional photos may be helpful when they show important clothing, settings, interests, or details that help us understand your hero. Professional photography is not required—ordinary phone photos are usually fine when the important details are clearly visible.
How many photographs should I submit?
There is no required number of photographs. A few clear, useful photos are usually better than many similar ones. Whenever possible, provide clear views of the hero’s face from more than one angle, plus any reference photos needed for the pet or meaningful object you want included. You may upload up to 10 files, with a maximum file size of 10 MB each.
Can you combine people from different photographs?
Yes. We can use separate reference photographs to build the composition. For example, the primary hero, one included pet, clothing, locations, and a meaningful object do not all need to appear in the same original photograph. If you want additional people or pets included, please contact us before ordering because the project may require a custom quote.
Can you include someone who has passed away?
Yes. Memorial and remembrance covers can be created using the photographs and information available.
Older or limited photographs may restrict how accurately certain details can be reproduced, but we will work carefully with the materials you provide.
Can you include pets?
Yes. Our standard comic-cover order may include one pet along with the primary hero. Dogs, cats, horses, birds, and other meaningful animals can be considered. Clear photographs showing the pet’s face, markings, coloring, and body shape are especially helpful. If you would like more than one pet included, please contact us before ordering; the project may require a custom quote.
Can my artwork include multiple people or pets?
Our standard comic-cover order is designed around one primary hero and may also include one pet and one meaningful object. Projects involving additional people, pets, or more complex scenes are considered individually and may require a custom quote. Please contact us before ordering if your project falls outside the standard options.
What happens if my photographs are blurry or low quality?
We will review the photographs and let you know if better references are needed. We may still be able to create the artwork, but unclear photographs can limit facial accuracy and small details.
4. Themes and Creative Direction
Can I request a particular theme?
Yes. You may request a general theme such as science fiction, fantasy, adventure, mystery, sports, western, historical, humorous, inspirational, romantic, or classic comic-book storytelling.
Can I choose the clothing, setting, colors, or props?
Yes. You may suggest clothing, colors, settings, and other visual details that help tell your hero’s story. Our standard order may also include one meaningful object. We may adjust the placement, scale, or arrangement of requested elements when necessary to create a clear and balanced comic-cover composition. If your idea requires several important objects, vehicles, or unusually complex scenery, please contact us before ordering because a custom quote may be needed.
Can you make someone look younger, more heroic, or more flattering?
Yes. The subject can be presented in a polished, expressive, and heroic way while remaining recognizable.
Please describe any important appearance preferences when submitting your information. Our goal is to celebrate the person rather than exaggerate or embarrass them.
Can I provide the title and wording for the cover?
Yes. You may suggest the main title, subtitle, captions, character name, date, issue information, and other wording.
We may recommend shortening or rearranging text when needed for readability, but the wording should continue to reflect the person and story being celebrated.
What if I do not know exactly what the cover should look like?
That is perfectly fine. You do not need to design the cover yourself or arrive with a finished concept. Just answer the five questions about your hero, provide a few clear photos, and tell us about the details that matter most. We will use that information to develop an original comic-cover concept for you to review.
Can you copy a Marvel, DC, Disney, Star Trek, or other copyrighted character?
We can create original artwork inspired by broad genres and storytelling traditions, but we cannot promise an exact copy of a copyrighted character, costume, logo, title design, vehicle, or fictional universe.
We can often develop an original alternative that captures the desired mood—such as space exploration, heroic adventure, magical fantasy, or vintage comic action—while keeping the finished design personal and unique.
5. Ordering, Payment, and Gift
How do I begin an order?
Choose your preferred artwork size, answer the five questions about your hero, and upload clear reference photos. You can also provide any optional details that will help us personalize the cover. Once your order is placed, we will review everything and contact you if anything important is missing or unclear.
What happens after I place my order?
We will review the submitted information and photographs before beginning the design. We may contact you if something important is missing, unclear, or likely to affect the artwork.
After the design is prepared, you will receive a proof for review before printing.
Can I order the artwork as a gift?
Yes. Custom comic covers are especially suited for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, retirements, graduations, memorials, holidays, professional achievements, and other meaningful occasions.
Does the gift recipient need to know about the order?
No. Many projects are created as surprises.
However, the person placing the order must have the right and any necessary permission to submit and use all photographs, images, wording, and other materials provided for the project. By submitting these materials, you authorize Keepsake Comics Studio to reproduce, edit, adapt, and incorporate them into the custom artwork for the purpose of creating and fulfilling your order.
This includes obtaining permission from the photographer or other copyright owner when you do not own the photograph. You are also responsible for obtaining any permission required from the people shown in the photographs or from a parent or legal guardian when appropriate.
Please do not submit professional portraits, school photographs, studio photographs, online images, or other copyrighted materials unless you own them or have permission to use them.
Tell us if the project is a surprise. We will not contact the gift recipient, and we will not publicly display the finished artwork before the gift has been presented. Any later use of the artwork in our portfolio, website, advertising, or social media will be handled separately.
Can other people help provide photographs and information?
Yes. Family members, friends, coworkers, and other contributors may help gather photographs, memories, quotations, and story details.
One person should serve as the primary contact and make the final decisions during proofing.
What happens if my project is more complicated than the available product options?
Our standard order is designed around one primary hero and may include one pet and one meaningful object. If your idea involves additional people or pets, multiple important objects, unusually complex scenes, or other requirements outside the standard options, please contact us before ordering. We will review the project and let you know whether we can accommodate it and whether a custom quote is needed.
Are taxes and shipping included in the displayed artwork price?
Applicable taxes are calculated and shown at checkout. Standard tracked shipping is FREE within the contiguous United States and Washington, D.C. We do not currently ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
6. Proofs, Revisions, and Timing
Will I see the artwork before it is printed?
Yes. You will receive a proof for review before the artwork is sent to print and placed in its frame.
What should I check when reviewing the proof?
Please carefully review:
- Names and spelling
- Dates and captions
- Clothing and appearance details
- Colors and important objects
- The people and pets included
- The overall composition
- Any factual details important to the story
Approval confirms that the artwork is ready to move into final production.
Can I request changes to the proof?
Yes. Reasonable corrections and refinements may be requested during proofing.
Examples include correcting spelling, adjusting a color, refining a facial detail, or correcting an item that does not match the information originally provided.
What is considered a major change?
A major change alters the original scope or creative direction. Examples include:
- Adding another person or pet
- Replacing an approved scene
- Changing the central theme
- Requesting a substantially different composition
- Adding significant new wording
- Providing important new requirements after the design is underway
Major changes may require an additional charge.
What happens after I approve the proof?
Once the proof is approved, the artwork moves into final preparation, printing, framing, and shipping.
Changes requested after approval may not be possible. If production must be repeated, additional charges may apply.
How long does the process take?
Completion time depends on the complexity of the project, the quality and completeness of the submitted materials, the number of revisions, and the current order schedule.
The process includes design, proofing, final preparation, printing, framing, and shipping. Orders needed for a specific event should be placed as early as possible.
Can you guarantee delivery by a particular date?
We will consider your requested date and tell you whether it appears achievable.
Because every piece is custom-made and shipping delays can occur, a requested date is not guaranteed unless that commitment has been specifically confirmed for your order.
Do you accept rush orders?
We may be able to accommodate an earlier requested completion date depending on the project and our current production schedule. Please contact us before ordering if you need the artwork by a firm date. Expedited production or shipping, when available, may involve additional charges.
7. Shipping, Damage, and Refunds
Where do you ship?
We currently ship to the contiguous 48 states and Washington, D.C. Standard Tracked Shipping is FREE. We do not currently ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
How is the framed artwork packaged?
The framed artwork is protected with packing materials and placed in packaging selected for shipping framed pieces. Our goal is to protect the print, frame, glazing, and corners during transportation.
Will I receive tracking information?
Yes. Once your completed order has shipped, tracking information will be provided when available.
Can the order be shipped directly to the gift recipient?
Yes. Enter the recipient’s name and address as the shipping address during checkout. Please verify the address carefully before placing your order. Pricing information is generally kept in your electronic order records and is not included with the framed gift.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged?
Contact us promptly if your order arrives damaged. Whenever possible, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and include your order number and photographs showing:
- The outside of the shipping box
- The shipping label
- Any visible damage to the box
- The packing materials
- The frame and glazing
- The printed artwork
Please keep the artwork, frame, box, and all original packing materials until we tell you they may be discarded.
What happens if the package is delayed or lost?
First check the tracking information provided by the carrier. If the package appears to be lost, has stopped moving for an unusual period, or is marked delivered but cannot be located, please contact us so we can review the shipment. Before contacting us about a delivered package, please also check with household members, neighbors, building management, and any secure package-delivery area. Carrier delays may be outside our direct control, but we will help determine the appropriate next step.
Can I cancel my order?
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel. If work on your custom artwork has not yet begun, we will generally provide a full refund. Once work has begun, cancellation is not guaranteed, and any approved refund may be reduced by the value of work already completed and any nonrecoverable costs already incurred. Once you have approved the final proof and production has begun, the order cannot normally be canceled or refunded because of a change of mind. Please see our Refund Policy for complete terms.
Can I return custom artwork?
Because every piece is commissioned and created specifically for one customer, custom artwork cannot normally be returned simply because the customer changes their mind after the work has been completed.
Orders that arrive damaged, contain a production error, or do not match the approved proof will be reviewed separately.

8. Privacy, Copyright, and Usage Rights
How will my photographs and personal information be used?
Photographs and personal information are used as reasonably necessary to create, revise, produce, fulfill, and support your custom order, communicate with you, and provide customer service. Please submit only information reasonably necessary for your project. For more information about how personal information is collected, used, and handled, please review our Privacy Policy.
Will my photographs or finished artwork be displayed publicly?
Not unless you give us permission. Submitting photographs or placing an order does not, by itself, give Keepsake Comics Studio permission to publicly display your personal photographs or finished custom artwork on our website, social media, portfolio, advertising, or other promotional materials. If we would like to feature your project publicly, we will ask for appropriate permission first.
Can I request that my project remain private?
Yes. In fact, your project is not displayed publicly unless you give us permission. You do not need to make a separate request to keep your photographs or finished artwork out of our website, social media, portfolio, or advertising. Your materials may still be used as reasonably necessary to create and fulfill your order as described in our Privacy Policy.
Who owns the finished framed piece?
After purchase, the customer owns the physical framed artwork that was delivered.
Ownership of the physical piece does not automatically transfer the copyright, editable source files, commercial reproduction rights, or the right to manufacture additional products using the design.
Can I print additional copies or place the artwork on other products?
Not automatically. Your purchase includes the finished framed artwork for personal display or gifting. It does not automatically include permission to reproduce the finished design, print additional copies, place the artwork on merchandise or other products, or use it commercially. Please contact Keepsake Comics Studio if you would like additional copies or another type of use so we can discuss the available options.
Are editable files or digital source files included?
No. Editable design files, working files, layered files, and digital source files are not included with the purchase of the framed artwork.
